This is No Longer a Struggle of the Old and the New, It is a Fight for Our Physical Existence in Armenia

“Maps and documents from Soviet Armenia are being published without taking turns, which attempt to justify the belonging of this or that region to Armenia. This was stated by economist Suren Parsyan on his Facebook page. From the perspective of realpolitik, these are bases that hold no value; our borders will stretch through those places that we can maintain independently or through our ally Russia.

I would like to remind that after the ceasefire in 1994, the borders of Armenia, Artsakh, and the liberated territories were established from positions of strength and not by referencing any particular document. Therefore, the new Armenian-Azerbaijani border will be drawn in blood or through the path of avoiding war, which is what Azerbaijan did in 1994 by conceding nearly everything.

The current authorities, in an attempt to avoid responsibility, are maneuvering between these two options, which will have consequences with both territorial and human losses. In order to choose the right option, we need to assess our resources, the moral and psychological atmosphere, and the plans of our partners in this region. Regardless of which option we choose, there will be new losses; we must be prepared for them.

This is no longer a struggle of the old and the new; this is a fight for our physical existence in Armenia. We can find effective solutions, but for that, we need a national consolidation,” wrote Parsyan.
