Tbilisi Proposes Its Own Peace Initiative for Armenia and Azerbaijan in the South Caucasus

Official Tbilisi has proposed its own negotiation format for achieving lasting peace in the region to both Yerevan and Baku.

According to David Zalkaliani, Georgia's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tbilisi is initiating a format for negotiations within a 'trio' framework involving Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia to establish long-term peace in the South Caucasus.

"Our alternative is the initiatives we propose, including the trio format of the three countries in the South Caucasus. This will involve Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia. Tbilisi should become a platform for dialogue among the three South Caucasian countries," stated Zalkaliani.

He noted that Tbilisi aims to invite neighboring countries to participate in economic projects that would contribute to reducing tensions in the region and establishing peace in the long term.

Zalkaliani also mentioned that Georgia does not intend to participate in the '3+3' negotiation format (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia - Russia, Turkey, Iran) regarding the opening of economic and transport ties in the Caucasus.
