Saakashvili Requests Assistance from the US

The former President of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, has appealed for assistance from the United States. Earlier, the US State Department urged Saakashvili to be allowed to attend all court hearings related to his case and to be treated fairly and with dignity.

Saakashvili stated that if the US authorities do not assist him, it would send a very negative signal to all pro-Western leaders and people.

This is reported by the American publication Bloomberg. The article also mentions that Saakashvili hastily submitted handwritten responses to questions through his lawyers. He indicated that he had been beaten in prison and dragged along the asphalt, mocked by other inmates. He also complained that he had been refused transfer to a civilian hospital, denied access to a phone, and not allowed to attend court sessions.
