Transportation in Gyumri to be Completely Renewed: Government Allocates 441 Million Drams

The government, during its session on November 18, allocated 462.25 million drams for the implementation of four subventive programs in four communities across four regions. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan mentioned that the communities have fulfilled their share for these programs, and now it is the turn of the state’s contribution.

He reported that there is one program in Aragatsotn Province amounting to 5 million drams, one program in Gegharkunik for 7 million, one program in Lori for 5.2 million, and one program in Shirak Province for 441 million drams.

“The latter program pertains to the city of Gyumri. The total cost of the program is 881 million drams, and 63 minibuses will be procured in Gyumri to renew the entire urban bus fleet. The Gyumri city hall will pay 50 percent of the cost, while the government will cover the remaining 50 percent,” stated Sanosyan.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan added that a total of 47 million is being implemented in subventive programs in 2021, and approximately 80 billion drams of subventive programs have been carried out since 2018. “Additionally, the government has also implemented direct investments in the communities. Only through direct projects, around 86 billion drams have been allocated to communities since 2018. This means that with both subventive programs and direct investments, we have made investments of about 400 million dollars in the communities. The draft budget for 2022 anticipates that these investment volumes should significantly increase. This is a very important statement. We have implemented projects in road construction, school construction, education, and repair of water infrastructure,” said Pashinyan.
