Military Exercises Launched in Georgia with Turkish Forces Participation
On November 18, military exercises titled Maple Arch-2021 have commenced in Georgia, involving personnel from Turkey, Lithuania, Poland, Canada, and Ukraine. This was announced by the press service of the Georgian Ministry of Defense. According to the Georgian MoD, the purpose of the exercises is to enhance interoperability among the armed forces of the participating countries, deepen cooperation in the defense sector, align more closely with NATO standards in the planning and execution of peacekeeping operations, and apply effective decision-making skills.
The exercises are taking place at the Georgia-NATO Joint Training and Evaluation Center (JTEC) and will last for 14 days. It is noteworthy that Maple Arch is held annually in different countries. Georgia has been participating in these exercises since 2018.
