Gurgen Arsenyan Displeased with the Authorities

The newspaper ‘Hraparak’ reports: ‘Recently, during a parliamentary session, Gurgen Arsenyan, a member of the ‘Civil Contract’ faction and a leader at the UN, exhibited noticeable nervous behavior. Sources from the authorities told us that Arsenyan is unhappy with the government regarding the ‘Gavar issue’. It turns out that he wanted to nominate his former party mate, the UN member and current mayor of Gavar, Gurgen Martirosyan, as the candidate for the Civil Contract, but at the last moment, MP Hayk Sargsyan and the Banduryan brothers from Noratus undermined this plan by proposing their own candidate, Noratus MP Narek Grigoryan, who, according to reports, left the military due to self-harm. He received his parliamentary mandate in December 2020 and marked his entry into the National Assembly with the word ‘September’, promising to bring a bill to parliament that would increase the price of milk.

Gurgen Martirosyan announced his departure from the UN in 2012 and is currently non-partisan, having held the position of Gavar’s mayor since 2005. In a conversation with us, he emphasized that he maintains warm relations with Gurgen Arsenyan. He has now been nominated with the ‘Gurgen Martirosyan’ alliance, which is led by the ‘Citizen’s Decision’ party.

We were also informed that some other mayors from Gavar intended to run, but the Banduryan gang, backed by the authorities, prevented this by threatening them to withdraw their nominations.
