Azerbaijani Side Confirms They Have 2 Corpses, Muradov Promised to Return Them: Avagyan
“There is one injured Armenian serviceman in Baku who needs surgery,” Colonel Boris Avagyan told Factinfo. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia had reported on 13 prisoners, one of whom is injured in Baku. Moreover, his health condition is such that transfer is not possible at this time, and he will likely undergo surgery in Azerbaijan.
“As far as I know, an agreement has been reached to operate on the soldier, stabilize his health condition, so that his transfer becomes feasible. The Azerbaijani side has promised to return the serviceman to the Russian side,” Avagyan stated.
Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, the deputy commander of the Southern Military District of Russia, had negotiated with Armenia and Azerbaijan the day before. The ceasefire is still being maintained.
Avagyan noted that serious work is underway with the mediation of the Russian side, expressing hope for a positive outcome. “Negotiations are ongoing regarding the confirmed return of 13 prisoners of war, to bring them home, and work is ongoing concerning 24 missing servicemen, to find them and bring them home,” he added.
On November 17, through the mediation of Rustam Muradov, one body of an Armenian Armed Forces serviceman who participated in the battles resulting from the Azerbaijani military aggression on November 16 was transported from Baku to Yerevan by special flight. We tried to find out whether the fallen serviceman was on the list of prisoners or missing, and Avagyan noted, “Until his return, the list had not yet been made. Muradov has just returned from Baku and has just compiled that list.”
In response to the remark that the Armenian Ministry of Defense had previously reported the number of missing and prisoners, Avagyan mentioned that he believes the Ministry of Defense receives more information from the general than it provides.
“There are 13 confirmed prisoners. 12 are not wounded, one is wounded. He has received medical assistance in Baku. One body of a serviceman has been returned by General Muradov. One has been discovered by Colonel Gorin, who works there, and both have been confirmed by the Azerbaijani side to have their corpses with them and promised to provide them,” said Boris Avagyan.
