Armenia's Representative at the UN Addresses Azerbaijani Aggression
Armenia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Mher Margaryan, delivered a speech at the UN Security Council meeting on the theme of "Peace and Security through Preventive Diplomacy."
In his address, Mher Margaryan drew the Security Council's attention to the recent armed attacks by Azerbaijan against Armenia's territorial integrity, which violate the UN Charter, international law, and the provisions of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020. He emphasized that Azerbaijan's aggressive actions threaten the international community's efforts toward de-escalation and seriously undermine the prospects for peace in the region.
The Armenian Permanent Representative underlined the urgent need for effective measures by international actors to prevent further escalation and to ensure the unconditional and complete withdrawal of Azerbaijani armed forces from Armenian territory.
The meeting of the Security Council, chaired by Mexico, also featured reports from the UN Secretary-General and the Presidents of the UN General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, and the International Court of Justice, as noted in a statement by the Foreign Ministry.
