Opposition MPs Leave Parliament Hall
The opposition factions "Hayastan" and "Pativ Unem" of the National Assembly of Armenia have left the session hall.
Hayk Mamijanyan from the "Pativ Unem" alliance announced: "The opposition factions had demanded an extraordinary session of the National Assembly and a council meeting to receive explanations from the government regarding what is happening at the borders of our homeland. This process was disrupted by the ruling majority, and instead, today we see an important bill regarding mercury on the agenda of the National Assembly."
"Pativ Unem" faction MPs will return to the plenary session when the critical issues facing our country are discussed based on their importance and urgency. We have no desire to participate in your mercury parties," he added.
Seiran Ohanyan, the leader of the "Hayastan" faction, also announced that as a sign of protest, the "Hayastan" faction will not participate in the regular sessions of the National Assembly.
