Military Operations Could Create Security Issues in the Region, Says MP
According to MP Armen Khachatryan from the Civil Contract faction of the National Assembly of Armenia, the military operations initiated by Azerbaijan, although localized, could swiftly escalate to a level that creates serious security challenges in the region. The MP expressed this view during the announcements hour in the National Assembly.
“In recent days, unfortunately, we have witnessed Azerbaijan’s attempts to undermine the peace processes, initially manifested by the establishment of a so-called customs checkpoint in the Vorotan area of the Goris-Kapan road segment. After realizing that our people were resisting and attempting to find alternative solutions to the issues at hand, on November 16, the same checkpoint was established in the Kapan-Jakaten road segment, severing Jakaten's connection with other villages. Subsequently, seeing that this too did not force us to take the actions they desired, today Azerbaijan has resorted to military assault and aggression,” said Khachatryan. Currently, localized military operations are ongoing at the borders of Armenia, initiated by Azerbaijan.
“Although these military actions are of a localized nature, there is a significant likelihood that they could quickly scale to a level that would result in serious security issues in the region,” the MP stated. He urged Armenia's partners, allies, and those nations with which Armenia has relevant agreements to take immediate and effective measures to prevent these military actions.
