Google, Facebook, and Other Large Corporations to Pay Taxes, Says Badasyan
Amid discussions in the National Assembly, a draft law proposing changes and amendments to the Tax Code is being reviewed. The head of the State Revenue Committee, Rustam Badasyan, stated that the draft introduces a new system for taxing electronic services under VAT.
Badasyan emphasized that the legislation has been discussed multiple times on various platforms. “Nothing changes in the lives of individuals. There is no additional tax burden on individuals; rather, large non-resident corporations, such as Google and Facebook, will have the opportunity to register on the tax authority's website and calculate and pay VAT for the services provided to individuals on a quarterly basis,” said Rustam Badasyan.
He also noted that the list of services will be determined by a government decision. These may include advertising services on online platforms, electronic books, movies, access to databases, or various services related to the use of electronic programs.
