Armenian Side Has Suffered Positional Losses: Eduard Aghajanyan
Eduard Aghajanyan, a member of the National Assembly from the 'Civil Contract' faction, stated that Azerbaijan continues its provocative actions along the border with Armenia. According to aysor.am, he emphasized that on November 14, Azerbaijani armed forces, supported by military equipment, invaded Armenian territory in one of the eastern sections of the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. Although through negotiations the military equipment and the majority of troops were withdrawn, the Armenian side has suffered positional losses.
Aghajanyan noted that as a result of the incident, Azerbaijan has reinforced its presence in the area as a consequence of the illegal incursion that occurred on May 2. According to the deputy, since the incursion on May 12, Azerbaijan has been occupying approximately 41 square kilometers of Armenia's sovereign territory in about 11 areas.
"The Azerbaijani authorities continue to make aggressive statements against Armenia, essentially creating new territorial and security threats for Armenia. Violations of the ceasefire regime along the Armenia-Azerbaijan border are occurring on a daily basis, and this situation poses a direct threat to Armenia, which is a member of the CSTO," said Aghajanyan.
He pointed out that since May 12, Armenia has initiated sending a CSTO mission to monitor the situation along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in accordance with the CSTO's crisis response procedure.
"Unfortunately, this initiative has not yet been implemented. I urge the Armenian government to take the initiative to send a CSTO observer mission to the Armenian-Azerbaijani border," emphasized Eduard Aghajanyan.
He also called on his fellow MPs to make statements in all international forums that clarify and highlight Azerbaijan's aggressive policies and the occupation of Armenian territories.
