The Union of Reserve Officers of the NSS Issues a Statement
While the political force that controls the levers of power talks about opening a new era of peace in the region, the enemy continues to remain faithful to its image of an Armenian killer (the killing of defenseless people on November 8 is a vivid example). This was stated in a statement issued by the Union of Reserve Officers of the NSS.
The statement further reads: “Essentially misleading the people and keeping them in a state of stupor, the country is being gifted to the enemy piece by piece, as entire settlements find themselves under blockade as a result of illegal concessions. Contrary to the government’s expression of goodwill towards the enemy, Azerbaijan’s and Turkey’s aggressive behavior and rhetoric only intensify daily, which was clearly evident at the conference of eight Turkish states held in Istanbul on November 11.
Due to this endless string of concessions, we are rapidly reaching a point where we will completely lose our homeland, turning into a community stripped of national dignity and statehood, relegated to the neighborhoods populated by Armenians in Istanbul or Baku.
It is equally painful that the intellectuals and public figures (Arsine Khanjyan, Atom Egoyan, Serj Tankian, Arthur Meschyan...) registered both in Armenia and abroad remain silent about the country’s pressing issues and future, who, in 2018, supported and blocked streets to bring that very power to the streets.
It is also extremely concerning that some generals and high-ranking officers in the Ministry of Defense, police, NSS, including Davit Tonoyan, Onik Gasparyan, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, and Jalal Harutyunyan, maintain a passive attitude and silence.
The chain of actions unfolding to the detriment of the Republic of Armenia may contain elements of state treason. In this created situation, the opposition is obliged to initiate real resistance, even if it means relinquishing parliamentary mandates. The President of the Republic must undertake solutions to national issues, and the leadership of the Ministry of Defense, police, national security service, and prosecutors, as well as judges, must cease being mere puppets of the regime and act within their powers in favor of the homeland.
