"Like a bad student, they have neither presented a bill nor a reporter and want to hold a session." Heated debate in parliament
Due to the opposition's demands, an extraordinary urgent session will not be convened. Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan mentioned in a press briefing that the issue cannot even be discussed, adding that the opposition colleagues submitted a document at 16:40, which is insufficient.
During a conversation with journalists and the secretary of the "Armenia" faction, Artur Minasyan, Simonyan once again decided to comment on the matter, approaching the opposition's application and calling it a "note."
"The Council of the National Assembly does not examine notes," said Simonyan, to which Minasyan countered that based on the demand of 1/5, they are obliged to organize a discussion. Simonyan added that there should be a reporter, but Minasyan insisted that the law states otherwise, and the session was initiated by representatives of the opposition. Simonyan insisted that the application was not presented properly.
Artur Vanetsyan, the leader of the "I have honor" faction, noted that there is an application to convene an extraordinary session of the National Assembly. Minasyan insisted that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan should appear as the responsible person in the government. Simonyan sarcastically noted that they should familiarize themselves with the procedures, to which Minasyan responded that Simonyan is responsible for convening the session and discussing security issues. The Speaker of the National Assembly assured that the law does not allow him.
"Like a bad student, they have neither presented a bill nor a reporter and want to hold a session," said Simonyan. "Armenia" faction MP Artur Minasyan retaliated, stating that he has no right to refuse the proposal to convene a session, to which Simonyan replied that if that’s the case, he should appeal to the ethics committee. Minasyan added that they will make a statement.
