Criminal Case Initiated Following Illegal Crossing of Armenian Border by Azerbaijani Armed Forces

On the day before yesterday, a criminal case was initiated regarding the illegal crossing of the state border of the Republic of Armenia by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Syunik region.

This was reported by Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Armenian Prosecutor General, via a Facebook post. He stated, “On November 14, 2021, around 12:00 PM, a group of armed servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan unlawfully crossed the state border of the Republic of Armenia adjacent to the administrative territory of the Sisian community in the Syunik region without permission and advanced 1 to 2 kilometers deep into the Republic of Armenia, approaching four combat positions of the Armenian Armed Forces. They made threats of violence against the Armenian servicemen stationed there and took actions aimed at handing over that part of the Armenian territory to the Republic of Azerbaijan, issuing demands for the Armenian servicemen to leave those areas under the threat of using weapons.”

A criminal case has been initiated at the military prosecutor's office of Yeghegnadzor under the features of Article 329, Part 2, and Article 300.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. Within the framework of the criminal case, in addition to the actions of the adversary, investigations will also cover the circumstances surrounding the approach of hostile forces to the aforementioned combat positions and the withdrawal of Armenian servicemen from those positions. Legal assessments regarding these will also be provided,” the post stated.

It should be noted that on November 14, around 1:00 PM, units of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, supported by armored vehicles, invaded the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia in one of the eastern sectors of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.
