Civil Contract Party Wins in Ijevan and Stepanavan, Suffers Crushing Defeat in Kapan
The ruling Civil Contract Party has suffered a crushing defeat in the Kapan community of Syunik. According to preliminary results of the local elections in Kapan, the list led by the current mayor Gevorg Parsyan from the Shant alliance is in the lead. The Shant alliance reportedly received around 14,000 votes, while the Civil Contract Party garnered only 5,587 votes.
It is worth noting that according to the CEC, Kapan community had the highest voter turnout in the elections.
In the Ijevan community of Tavush province, the ruling party's candidate, Arthur Jagharyan, has claimed victory. The results show that the Civil Contract Party received 80.78% of the votes, as reported by National Assembly deputy Vahagn Aleksanyan.
According to his preliminary data: 1. Civil Contract Party - 80.78% 2. Armenian Revolutionary Federation - 15.87% 3. Invalid - 3.35%
In the city of Stepanavan in Lori province, preliminary counts from 6 polling stations indicate that the leading party is also the Civil Contract Party, with the list headed by Armen Grigoryan. The ruling party's candidate received 1,304 votes, while the Prosperous Armenia Party received 225 votes and the Armenian National Congress received 105 votes.
