An Alternative Road is Being Constructed for the Jakateni: MP Davit Danielyan

After establishing a customs checkpoint in the Vorotani section of the Goris-Kapan highway, Azerbaijani forces have also set up a wagon cabin on the Kapan-Jakateni road last night. If the Jakateni road is closed, residents of the villages in Kapan will have to detour through Meghri. It is noteworthy that no official source has either denied or confirmed this information.

Davit Danielyan, a candidate for the Kapan City Council and current MP, stated in a conversation with reporters that an alternative road is being constructed for Jakateni, but he did not provide further details on the location of this road. He only mentioned that, considering the dangers since November 9, alternative routes are being created for all roads. He urged people to follow official updates regarding the processes around Jakateni. “I have been informed that a cabin has been installed there and that no other actions have been taken. In this regard, I would ask to follow the official news,” said Danielyan.

Regarding the establishment of a customs checkpoint by Azerbaijan on the Goris-Kapan highway, Danielyan noted, “I have heard the statements from government members that placing a checkpoint on this passage is contrary to decisions that do not align with the interests of Armenia, and especially against agreeing to a ‘corridor.’ I am confident that any resident of the Syunik will welcome this step, as there should not be a corridor.”
