450 People Hurt by Scorpion Stings in Egypt
In Aswan province in southern Egypt, three people have died and 450 have been affected by scorpion stings, reported the acting Minister of Health Khaled Abdel Ghaffar.
Scorpions have invaded streets and homes following heavy rainfall. This past Saturday, Aswan experienced significant rainfall and hail, resulting in the destruction of five houses. The extreme weather conditions have also impacted several other southern regions of the country.
As part of a plan to counter hazardous weather conditions, the Ministry of Health has prepared more than 2,000 ambulances and 48 off-road vehicles to assist citizens.
The minister assured that the strategic stock of antivenom for scorpion and snake bites is sufficient for all hospitals in the country. For instance, there are currently 3,350 doses available in hospitals in Aswan province.
