The Union of Reserve Officers of the NSS Issues a Statement
The Union of Reserve Officers of the NSS has issued a statement, which reads:
“It has been over 100 days since the highly esteemed doctor, Doctor of Medicine, and Professor Armen Charents has been in custody. He is a person who has saved countless lives and returned patients from the brink of death. Even now, he could continue his humanitarian mission blessed by the Lord.
There has been much discussion about the legal grounds for keeping him in custody and the possibilities for his release before the trial, but the evident political order imposed by the authorities continues to carry out its dark tasks, keeping the judicial body in a subordinate position. The latter, in collaboration with those passing down political orders, blatantly forgets that the moment of inevitable retribution will come, and it will resonate with the full severity of the law.
It is noteworthy that, alongside the weak resistance of civil society, the medical community continues to maintain a deafening silence that should be particularly concerned about a colleague's fate. Even more shocking is the position of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. Being well aware of the professor's severe health issues and the absence of the forensic expert examination scheduled for September 25, they maintain a deathly silence.
No less remarkable is the behavior and conduct of international organizations represented in Armenia, as well as the embassies and diplomatic representations of countries bearing the label of the democratic world. They can raise global noise for a trivial matter, discuss many legal changes and amendments, but in this case, they remain silent, just as they were mute regarding the condemnation of Azerbaijan, which unleashed the Artsakh war, and the assessment of the aggressor.
We feel it necessary to warn that the maintained criminal indifference is inexcusable, and opportunism, acting with double standards is a bad sign that will inevitably have a boomerang effect.”
