The Outline of the 'Surrender of Syunik' is Already Becoming Very Clear, Says Researcher Armen Aivazyan

Senior researcher at the Matenadaran, Armen Aivazyan, expressed his thoughts on Facebook:

“Yesterday, Pashinyan was talking about the 'Surrender of Syunik' with military security issues again being distorted alongside discussions about allocating some funds for public needs. The outline of the surrender of Syunik is already becoming very clear:

  1. Strengthening of the Azerbaijani army in dominating positions over the cities of Syunik (especially Kapan and Goris) and villages, thus posing a constant direct threat to the peaceful inhabitants of these areas.
  2. Handing over a 21-kilometer stretch of the only highway connecting Goris-Kapan to the Azerbaijani army, thereby creating a trilateral blockade of Kapan and Meghri regions, as well as an effective partial separation of Armenia from Iran.
  3. Isolation and encirclement of several villages in Syunik by placing their roads under the control of the Azerbaijani army.
  4. Providing a corridor to the Azerbaijani side via the railway through Meghri under the control of Russian troops.
  5. Currently only granting an automobile corridor to the Azerbaijani side via Sisian (from Khndzoresk to Bichenek) under the control of Russian troops (this was also announced by Pashinyan's Secretary of the Security Council).
  6. Leaving the people of Syunik defenseless and not forming a militia.
  7. Not removing the Armenian army from a paralyzed state and planning to reduce its numbers.

This is just the beginning. If this process is not stopped, there will be a rapid outflow of the Armenian population from Syunik, with the gradual surrender and occupation of this historically Armenian region of Greater Armenia. This is nothing less than a 'soft' genocide plan, which will later or perhaps simultaneously be implemented against other parts of Armenia as well.

Armenia urgently needs a new government. Armenia urgently needs a new opposition. Armenia urgently needs a patriotic command for the army. In the diaspora, a super mobilization of all patriotic forces is required. God help us.”
