Suren Papikyan and the Governor Unable to Reach Bardzravan in Syunik, Stuck on New Road

Deputy Prime Minister Suren Papikyan and Syunik Governor Melikset Poghosyan attempted to visit the village of Bardzravan yesterday but were unable to reach their destination. According to Hraparak.am, this is one of the villages that has been under blockade and subject to Azerbaijani customs control.

The governor and deputy prime minister attempted to access Bardzravan via an alternative route that was unimproved, which turned out to be impassable. The rainy weather has further complicated travel conditions. Their vehicle, which was an SUV, got stuck in the mud and could not reach its destination.

The administrative head of Bardzravan sent equipment to tow the vehicle out of the mud and transport it to the village, but those efforts were unsuccessful. We spoke with Onik Avagyan, the head of Bardzravan. “Yes, they were unable to arrive. They tried to come via that alternative road. I had requested that equipment be sent to that section so it could be repaired. Due to the mud, transport could not come down, and they could not enter the village either. They were coming via that alternative route to see the condition of the road with their own eyes. I also asked them to move the equipment to this side so that the road paving could begin from the village side, as the most impassable section is on this side, the Bardzravan section that should reach the Tatev-Kapan road,” stated Avagyan.

Thus, the alternative route that this government offers to villages under blockade is impassable, and even SUVs are getting stuck on the road. It should be noted that Avagyan had mentioned to us yesterday that even the ambulance could not reach their village via this road, and they find themselves in a very difficult situation now,” the site reported.
