COVID-19 is Not Overcome, More Dangerous Strains May Emergence: Putin

The rapid mutual recognition of vaccines and national vaccination certificates worldwide will facilitate a smoother recovery of global economic and other activities. This opinion was expressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin during an online summit of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

He reminded that Russia proposed at the G20 summit to expedite the development of mutual recognition of vaccines and certificates in the shortest possible time. "I am confident that the faster this is done, the easier it will be to fully resume global business, tourism, and other activities," said Putin.

The Russian president also raised the possibility of new, more dangerous strains of COVID-19 emerging. "The coronavirus is by no means overcome. The emergence of new and even more dangerous strains of this infection cannot be ruled out," Putin stated.

He added that Russia will continue to assist other countries with the supply of vaccines, medicines, and other necessary resources.
