Who are the victims and injured from the shooting in Kanakert? Where did the murder occur?

As reported, on November 11, gunshots were heard from one of the houses in Kanakert, resulting in the deaths of a criminal authority known as Tui from Kanakert and former MP Artush Simonyan, also from Kanakert. There are other casualties and injuries as well.

Following the incident, 61-year-old Artush Simonyan, a resident of house 16 on Kanakert Street 16, was taken to the Mikhailian Institute of Surgery with a diagnosis of 'hemorrhagic shock, gunshot wound'. Another resident from the same house, 27-year-old Hovhannes Simonyan, was admitted with a diagnosis of 'gunshot wound to the right foot'. Additionally, 37-year-old Vladimir Simonyan, also a resident of the same address, was diagnosed with 'gunshot wound to the chest-abdominal area'.

38-year-old Arthur Boryan, a resident of Z. Sarkavag Street, was also taken to the same hospital with a diagnosis of 'gunshot wound'. Arthur Petrosyan was admitted with a 'gunshot wound to the left forearm'.

At the hospital, both A. Boryan and A. Simonyan died without regaining consciousness. It has been reported that the three injured individuals at the Mikhailian Institute of Surgery have already been discharged.

Furthermore, 19-year-old Gevorg Jaboyan from Kanakert was admitted to University Hospital 1 with a diagnosis of 'gunshot wound to the outer surface of the right thigh'. Medical sources from Heratsi Medical Center stated that his condition is satisfactory.

According to circulating rumors, the house where the incident occurred belongs to former MP Artush. The deceased Artush Simonyan was born on June 2, 1960, in Yerevan. He graduated from Yerevan State University in 1982 and was an Orientalist. From 1981-1982, he worked as a military translator in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, and from 1982-1984, he was a senior researcher at the Yeghishe Charents Museum of Literature and Arts. Between 1984-1988, he was an instructor at the Central Committee of Leninist Young Communist League, and from 1988-1996, he was the deputy director of the Kanakert sewing factory. He was a representative of 'Armenian Airlines' in Moscow from 1996-1998 and its deputy director from 1998-2003. On May 25, 2003, he was elected as an MP from electoral district number 5. He was a member of the permanent commission on foreign relations and a member of the 'People's Deputy' parliamentary group. He has been a member of the Republican Party of Armenia since July 22, 2006, and is married with four children.

Regarding the other deceased, Kanakert's Tui, he is known as a criminal authority and has been embroiled in various criminal stories, facing imprisonment for different offenses. For instance, he was sentenced to one year in prison for possessing illegal weapons and munitions.

Tui is considered a close associate of Levon Ghazaryan, a notorious criminal known as 'Lyovik', who had been central to several criminal incidents. Following his murder, there has been active discussion in the criminal world about potential threats to those surrounding 'Third Mass', indicating they might be either eliminated or isolated. This is further exemplified by Tui's habit of traveling around the city in an armored vehicle.

Additionally, Tui was at the center of a scandal in July 2018 when a citizen named Arman Hakobyan reported that Tui, along with seven to eight men, kidnapped him and held him captive for seven to eight hours, during which they beat him and threatened him with death to relinquish his share of a bread factory, for which he was allegedly offered $150,000.

Hakobyan had no choice but to comply, though he later received only $10,000. In 2019, the criminal case against Tui was suspended as the identity of the person to be involved as a defendant was unknown.

Notably, in 2021, the press reported that several individuals were awarded combat weapons by a decree from the President of Artsakh following the end of the war, including Kanakert's Tui.
