What Samvel Babayan Promised Tigran Avinyan

According to the newspaper "Hraparak," "The leader of the Liberal Party, Samvel Babayan, recently announced: ‘In violation of the requirements of the RA legislation and the signing of a memorandum of cooperation with another political force, the Liberal Party officially declares that it has not signed any memorandum of cooperation with any political force in the elections for the community council of Meghri and has not authorized any individual to act on behalf of the party.’

It is evident that the cooperation between the candidate from the ‘Republic’ party, Bagrat Zakaryan, and the Liberal Party's council has not been coordinated with Babayan, while the memorandum stipulated that the councils of the two parties decided to share the 5-year term; 2.5 years for one and 2.5 years for the other. Khachatur Asatryan, who heads the Liberal Party’s list, stated that the list was formed by Babayan's lawyers, they submitted all the required documents, the legal requirements were maintained, and the electoral list was formed in a 70/30 ratio, meaning 70 percent were party members.

Although Asatryan and the second candidate who received a mandate are non-partisan: ‘A council member can leave the faction by notifying the faction and the community leader in writing.’

According to our information, Babayan did everything possible to form a coalition with the CP, promising Avinyan, but Asatryan independently decided to sign a memorandum with Bagrat Zakaryan.’
