"They Will Not Provide Reports About Themselves": Mamijanyan on Boycotting the 44-Day War Inquiry Committee
Accomplices cannot investigate the crimes that occurred during the war. This was stated by Haik Mamijanyan, a member of the 'Honorary' faction, during a conversation with journalists at the National Assembly on November 10.
“Secondly, involving a spokesperson for defeat, someone who has flipped allegiances a thousand times, and a person who has repeatedly contradicted his own statements—bringing Artur Aghvanisyan into this process is the pinnacle of cynicism. It is like involving Chikatilo in a committee aimed at preventing violence against women. Everything points to the fact that the purpose of this committee is to find and appoint blame, most likely within the army. The logic here is zero because the inquiry committee is first and foremost a tool for the opposition, since the opposition lacks enforcement and investigative bodies. The government has these, and if there are more than a thousand criminal cases, why should the government establish yet another institute? It is incomprehensible to me. With this, the government will attempt to deflect blame from itself, which will not be successful,” Mamijanyan declared.
He expressed his conviction that this inquiry committee is unlikely to provide any credible information regarding the mistakes and crimes that occurred during the 44-Day War, because they will not report about themselves. The opposition MP mentioned that the possibility of boycotting the work of the inquiry committee is currently being discussed, but also added that valuable information will pass through this committee's hands.
