Subordinates of Marutyan Came to End Corruption, Now Under NSS Attention: 'Zhoghourd'

According to 'Zhoghourd' newspaper, the director of the 'Yerevan Waste Management and Sanitary Cleaning' community organization, Armen Grigoryan, has been under the scrutiny of law enforcement agencies for several months. This information has also been confirmed by the Yerevan City Hall, indicating that based on the directive given by Mayor Hayk Marutyan back in September, the Monitoring Department has conducted an investigation into Grigoryan's organization.

'The findings of the investigation were submitted to law enforcement agencies at the end of October to clarify all circumstances and take appropriate action,' said the mayor's press secretary, Hakob Karapetyan, in a conversation with 'Zhoghourd,' without detailing what specific information was passed on to law enforcement after the investigation.

According to our information, Grigoryan, who is reportedly the husband of the mayor's wife's close friend, did not fulfill the army's request during the war. 'Army representatives had asked Grigoryan to provide the tires of waste collection trucks for construction work at the border. However, the director chose to sell them for a few thousand drams instead,' a source close to the NSS informed 'Zhoghourd,' adding, 'Currently, law enforcement is also interested in Grigoryan. It is not excluded that he may be arrested soon.'

'Zhoghourd' attempted to clarify this information directly with Armen Grigoryan. However, he declined to comment, urging reporters to contact the press secretary. The latter stated that he was unaware of the story concerning the tires. Karapetyan also denied that Grigoryan and Marutyan's wives are close friends.

Employees of Hayk Marutyan, who purportedly came to put an end to corruption after the political reshuffle in 2018, have, in fact, come under the attention of the NSS. This indicates that Marutyan's statements about no shady deals taking place in the city hall remain mere declarations. Not only do such deals exist, but they are also done quite boldly. Incidentally, this organization, whose director is at the center of corruption deals, was created by Marutyan and his loyalists. They sidelined the 'Sanitek' company, for which the city authorities are still to respond in courts.
