Over 566 Million Drams Recovered from Damage Caused to the State in 9 Months: NSS

During the period from January to September 2021, the National Security Service (NSS) of the Republic of Armenia transferred 772 materials or preliminary information to various authorized bodies of the Republic of Armenia for determining their further proceedings, based on the implementation of their legally reserved functions. As a result, 217 criminal cases were initiated within the mentioned bodies.

In the same period, the investigative department of the NSS transferred a total of 149 criminal cases to other authorities, of which 127 cases went to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, 14 to the Special Investigative Service, and 8 to the State Revenue Committee of Armenia.

The total amount of damage caused by crimes in relation to these 149 criminal cases is preliminarily assessed at 20,967,661,169 Armenian drams and 18,880 US dollars. Of this, the preliminary damage inflicted on the state amounts to 20,809,387,555 Armenian drams, 153,530,985 Armenian drams on legal entities, and 4,742,629 Armenian drams and 18,880 US dollars on physical persons.

In parallel, during the same period, a total of 264 criminal cases were initiated in the NSS investigative department, with the majority, 188 cases, initiated based on materials prepared in national security bodies. The total amount of damage caused by crimes based on the criminal cases initiated and investigated during this period is preliminarily estimated at 24,607,971,770 Armenian drams. Out of this, the preliminary damage inflicted on the state is estimated at 24,378,963,387 Armenian drams, on legal entities at 80,752,153 Armenian drams, and on physical persons at 148,256,230 Armenian drams.

Among these, 566,199,139 Armenian drams have been recovered from the damage caused to the state, and 5,907,732 Armenian drams from the damage caused to physical persons.
