Azerbaijanis Attempted to Advance, Our Soldiers Halted Them and Improved Their Positions: Karen Kocharyan

Goris Deputy Mayor Karen Kocharyan discussed the incident between Armenians and Azerbaijanis in the area of Lake Sev during an interview with Sputnik Armenia. According to Kocharyan, Azerbaijani soldiers attempted to enhance their positions yesterday but encountered resistance from the Armenian armed forces.

"There was situational concern. There were no gunshots. The Azerbaijanis attempted to advance, and our soldiers halted them. Our troops improved their positions," he stated.

It should be noted that Azerbaijani military personnel have been in the territory of Lake Sev in Armenia's Syunik province since May 12, attempting to strengthen their foothold there. A similar situation has occurred in the villages of Kut, Verin Shorja, and Norabak in Gegharkunik province. Multiple rounds of negotiations have been held with the mediation of the Russian side, yet the adversary currently has no intention of withdrawing.

Armenia has appealed to the CSTO and requested military assistance from Russia. The military-political leadership has declared that they wish to resolve the issue peacefully, but they do not rule out the option of using force should negotiations fail to yield results.
