Seiran Ohanyan Has No Connection to the Fall of Shushi: Artzrun Hovhannisyan
The former representative of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, Artzrun Hovhannisyan, claims that the former Minister of Defense and head of the ‘Armenia’ faction in the National Assembly, Seiran Ohanyan, has no connection to the fall of Shushi. Hovhannisyan shared this conviction in an interview with Aysor.am.
“I do not fully have command of the secrets of the Shushi operation—who led it, who executed it, and so on—but based on the preliminary information I have, Seiran Ohanyan has no link to the fall of Shushi,” said Hovhannisyan.
He noted that when Ohanyan went to Artsakh, he spoke with him, and from the very first moment, the former minister engaged with the topic without having any official status. “I believe Arayik Harutyunyan offered something to Ohanyan in the Defense Army, I am not entirely in the know about that, but Seiran Ohanyan provided advice appropriate to his level of professionalism, some of which our guys implemented, but some, unfortunately, either did not happen, or it didn’t work out, or they didn’t want to. If they had, it might have been better in many places,” Hovhannisyan emphasized.
He added that during the conflict, Ohanyan provided advice to platoon and company commanders. It is worth noting that last year, Ohanyan himself denied the information suggesting that he led the military operations in Shushi. He indicated that he provided appropriate support—nothing more than that, and he had no commanding function.
