Newly Appointed Governor Threatens School Directors

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that alarming signals are coming from Aragatsotn regarding the newly appointed governor Razmik Petrosyan, who is reportedly working "with a hand on the neck" of candidates from the ruling Civil Contract party in the local self-government elections.

In particular, he is not holding back efforts for Tavros Sapehyan, the acting head of the Talin community and a representative of the Sapehyan family. The Sapehyan family has had a history of rivalry with Petrosyan and has previously fought alongside Levon Ter-Petrosyan and the Armenian National Congress.

The newly appointed governor called together school directors and threatened to dismiss all teachers listed on the platforms of various party councils. In essence, it is almost the same group implicated in the ongoing imprisonment of Armen Charchyan.

Particularly strong pressure has been exerted on the administration of Talin's number 1 school, where respected and beloved young physical education teacher Karen Grigoryan heads the list of the "Hayk" liberal party.

In addition to these two forces, Ara Zohrabyan's "Zartonq" is also participating in Talin, whose mayoral candidate is former Talin mayor and former Republican MP Mna Tsakan Mna Tsakanyan. The alliance "Our Strong Community" is also participating, with about 90 percent of its list composed of Dashnaktsutyun members.

Details in today’s issue of the newspaper.
