Nazeli Baghdasaryan on Her Appointment as Governor
I know that governors come and go, but journalists stay. I am confident that our cooperation will be effective in the future, and I am ready for open and transparent work.
This was stated today, November 9, during a meeting with journalists in Gyumri by the newly appointed Governor of Shirak, Nazeli Baghdasaryan, who assured that the doors of the governor's office will always be open to journalists.
Referring to the fact that this government has changed four governors in Shirak over the past three years, the new governor said, “Some interruptions in tenures have been due to objective circumstances, while others have been subjective. However, if I am not mistaken, all of our predecessors, who have held the governor's office, currently hold state positions; two are deputy ministers, and one is a university head. In other words, this is not a rupture.”
In response to the remark that Nazeli Baghdasaryan has been sent to Shirak to ensure victory for the ruling Civil Contract party in the upcoming local elections aimed at community consolidation, she emphasized, “I wouldn’t want to directly link these processes. Yes, the results of the local elections in Gyumri have been a signal, and we have made certain changes within the team. And I do not hide that this staff change is related to that, but as for the upcoming local elections, let’s remember that the governor is not a political position; it is an administrative one, and I will continue to act and remain within my powers, primarily focusing on one important aspect: ensuring the development of the Shirak region.”
“As a member of a political team, it is very important for me that we have victories in different communities, but I believe that one month is not enough to be a significant factor. There will be heads of staff involved in the local government work, campaign starts will occur, and efforts will be made on the ground. I am hopeful that the 'Civil Contract' party will be able to achieve victories in various communities,” she added.
