Moscow Will Continue to Address the Issue of Prisoner Exchanges, Sergey Kopirkin
Russia will continue to work on the return of Armenian prisoners of war from Azerbaijan. This was announced by Sergey Kopirkin, the Russian ambassador to Armenia, in an interview with Sputnik Armenia and 24News.
“You know that this issue is always under the attention of not only the leadership of Armenia but also Russia, including peacekeepers. Recently, five individuals were returned to Armenia, and this work is ongoing,” the ambassador noted.
Kopirkin emphasized that the issue of returning prisoners is a priority, and Moscow will continue to engage in this matter. He reminded that Russia has always supported the principle of “everyone for everyone” in exchanges.
“We work according to the developments in the situation. But I repeat, the work is ongoing and will continue; I hope that the issue will be resolved,” the ambassador added.
It should be noted that according to the Armenian Investigative Committee, the total number of victims during the 44-day war is 3,788. As of October 4, the fate of 224 military personnel and 22 civilians remains unknown. Since the signing of the ceasefire, Azerbaijan has handed over 113 prisoners to the Armenian side.
