Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry Accuses Armenia of New Provocations

The visit of the Armenian Minister of Defense, Arshak Karapetyan, to Artsakh has been assessed by Azerbaijan as "another provocation from Yerevan." This was announced by the spokesperson for Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry, Leyla Abdullayeva.

"All this indicates that the Armenian side is deliberately trying to escalate the situation. These actions, carried out on the eve of the one-year anniversary of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, have one purpose: to tarnish the activities of the peacekeepers, and they generally violate the trilateral statement," she stated.

Abdullayeva also referred to the incident that occurred near the city of Shushi on November 8. She indicated that "usually, when certain works are planned in a given area, the Russian peacekeepers are informed about it, and all operations are conducted under their supervision." This time, according to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the peacekeepers were not informed and did not participate, which raises "serious questions."
