The Artsakh Health Ministry has reported on the health status of citizens who sustained injuries from gunfire by Azerbaijanis near a junction close to the city of Shushi. Gevorg Melkumyan (born in 1990), who suffered a gunshot wound, was successfully operated on yesterday and is currently breathing independently without the use of a ventilator. His condition is assessed as critically stable.

Melkumyan sustained gunshot wounds to the neck and arm, as well as a comminuted fracture of the upper third of his arm.

Two other injured individuals are in moderate condition. Armen Sarkisyan (born in 1980) has a through-and-through gunshot wound to the lower jaw, with a comminuted fracture of the left angle of the mandible accompanied by dislocated fragments, and a fracture of the zygomatic bone, along with soft tissue swelling and emphysema.

The Minister of Health of Artsakh, Mikael Hayriyan, visited the Republican Medical Center yesterday and this morning to monitor the surgical procedures and inquire about the patients' health. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, relatives are currently unable to visit the wards, but the minister assured the parents during their meeting that their loved ones are under medical care and that there is no threat to their lives.
