What Mirzoyan and Lavrov Discussed: Details

On November 8, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. This was reported by the press service of the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During their discussion, Mirzoyan and Lavrov addressed a wide range of issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The two interlocutors also touched upon the implementation of commitments undertaken by the parties in the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020.

In this context, Mirzoyan emphasized the unconditional return of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees held in Azerbaijan, as well as the necessity of maintaining the ceasefire regime.

The Armenian Foreign Minister firmly condemned the ongoing provocations by Azerbaijani armed forces, which recently resulted in the death of one and injuries to three civilians near Shushi. Mirzoyan highlighted that the anti-Armenian rhetoric from the Azerbaijani leadership and the continuous violations of the ceasefire regime pose serious threats to regional stability and security.

During the conversation, regional and international agenda issues were also discussed, and attention was given to the further development of Armenian-Russian allied relations.
