We are Initiating Nationwide Resistance: Statement by the Armenia Alliance
At the conclusion of a rally organized by the Armenia Alliance at Freedom Square, a statement was adopted, which we present below.
"Based on the unified will of the Armenian people expressed in the declarations of Armenia's independence and the declaration of the Republic of Artsakh, reaffirming the commitment to protect the inseparable rights and vital interests of Armenia and the Armenian people, taking into account that:
- This government is disastrous for Armenia, Artsakh, and the Armenian people,
- The symbol of defeat cannot ensure peace, dignity, and development,
- To maintain power, the ruling force is willing to make further concessions and to lose its sovereignty,
Considering:
- The serious regional and geopolitical challenges unleashed by the war initiated by Azerbaijan and Turkey,
- Turkey's intentions to consolidate its presence in the region through political-economic expansion,
- The aim of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem to maximize the outcomes of the 44-day war, i.e., the depopulation of Artsakh and fulfilling territorial claims against Armenia,
- Azerbaijan's refusal to adhere to the fundamental principles of the peaceful resolution process and the international understanding of the essence and format of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict,
- Azerbaijan’s attempts to limit the Russian peacekeeping mission and to resume warfare,
Recognizing that:
- A one-man rule has been established in Armenia, state institutions have been disbanded,
- The power structures are being utilized solely for the purpose of maintaining power,
- Armenia is no longer a legal, democratic, and social state,
Convinced that:
- Any process that entails vital concessions from Armenia and the Armenian people will ultimately result in the collapse of the Armenian statehood,
- The guarantee for the development of Armenia as a national and sovereign state is the preservation and reinforcement of its geopolitical significance and the rights of future generations,
- The existence and security issues of Armenia and Artsakh are interrelated,
- The guarantee for a just resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue and the establishment of sustainable peace is the unconditional application of the right to self-determination and equality of peoples, thereby excluding any form of status for Artsakh within the framework of Azerbaijan,
- It is necessary to restore Armenia's commitment to ensuring the safety and self-determination rights of the people of Artsakh,
- No one officially representing the Republic of Armenia can sign any political or military document in violation of constitutional and legal procedures.
The rally declares:
In order to neutralize external threats, to prevent the depopulation of Artsakh, to exclude the Turkification of Armenia, to establish solidarity in domestic life, and to unite the Armenian people, we are initiating nationwide resistance—within Armenia, Artsakh, and the diaspora.
The goal remains unchanged: to remove the symbol of defeat from power, to restore Armenia's sovereignty and the dignity of the Armenian person. This is not the resistance of a single force or a single alliance; it is the undertaking of every dignified Armenian. Until victory, this struggle may last a week or months. This implies consistent, daily work and action from each of us. We begin to organize.
Our presence in the National Assembly will serve to strengthen the resistance. The moment has matured; we will transfer the fight only to the streets and squares. The symbol of defeat will be removed. Syunik will not be ceded, Artsakh will not be depopulated, Armenia will not be Turkified.
Armenia will be a sovereign state, and the Armenian person will live in a just, strong country. The Armenian person will walk around the world with their head held high."
