Ohanian: During 40 Days in Artsakh, I Never Heard Anyone Say the Land Was Sold and Not Worth Fighting For
During the 44-day Artsakh War, former Minister of Defense Seyran Ohanian spent 40 days in Artsakh and stated that he never heard even once anyone say that the land was sold and that there was no need to fight. He made this remark during a press briefing with journalists in the National Assembly.
“During that time, I was in various locations in Artsakh, but I did not hear such calls. In general, a year has passed, and there has been no assessment of this reality. Both the government and the Security Council, as well as law enforcement agencies, have had all the tools to evaluate the situation. During this time, they could have revealed those people,” emphasized Ohanian.
He pointed out that he does not know who is spreading such information.
The representative also spoke about the opposition's claim that the government does not intend to create a commission to investigate the war. It is worth noting that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in an interview on November 7 on Public TV that the commission had not been established due to many opposition deputies failing to present their documents related to confidentiality.
“Many deputies from our faction were the first to fill out the confidentiality documents, and I was the first to submit mine. It is ridiculous, but up to now, the security clearance for confidentiality has not been granted. None of this corresponds to reality; they are the ones dragging their feet,” Ohanian said.
It should be noted that the government-side frequently claims that there were individuals during the war who called on soldiers or volunteers standing at the front not to fight because the land had been sold.
Additionally, it is worth recalling that Arthur Ghazinyan, the candidate from the Armenia faction, has not been elected to the position of deputy chair of the National Assembly Committee on Defense and Security for the 10th time. On that day, the Committee Chair Andranik Kocharyan proposed that Seyran Ohanian present a new candidate.
