Children are Also Infected with the Delta Variant; School Closures Have Yielded Some Results, Minister Says

The temporary suspension of classes in schools and universities has shown some results in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. This was stated today by Armenia's Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan during a joint session of the Standing Committees on Health, Financial and Budgetary Affairs at the National Assembly.

“The school holidays last week and online classes in universities have had a somewhat positive trend, at least in terms of maintaining numbers,” she noted.

The minister revealed that children are also getting infected with the coronavirus Delta variant, and it sometimes progresses quite severely in young patients as well. According to Avanesyan, although the mask-wearing regime has been tightened, it is still not at the desired level. The only effective measure against the disease, according to the minister, is vaccination.
