Ankara Plans to Extend the Presence of Turkish Troops in Azerbaijan
On November 9, the Turkish Parliament will discuss the extension of the stay of Turkish troops in Azerbaijan. According to Anadolu, Bulent Turan, the deputy chairman of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) parliamentary group, stated that Turkey is interested in resolving the issues in the region.
“Last year, the bill regarding Azerbaijan was supported by all parties in Parliament, except for the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). I hope that this year the document will receive support from all sides, and we will be able to emphasize that Turkey, its army, security forces, and state stand by our Azerbaijani brothers,” said the parliament member.
It is worth noting that the proposal to send Turkish troops to Azerbaijan was approved during a plenary session of the Turkish Parliament on November 17, 2020. It is expected that this year the document will be extended for another year.
