We Must, Therefore, Buy. SU-30SMs Acquired at the Army's Request, Says Nikol Pashinyan
Since Nikol Pashinyan's election as Prime Minister, there has not been a single instance where the needs and demands of the army went unfulfilled, he stated during a broadcast on First Channel.
According to the Prime Minister, the acquisition of the SU-30SMs is proof of his words.
Pashinyan noted that these aircraft were acquired per the army's wishes. He recounted that he had received letters claiming that they were not actually needed. He directed these letters to the professional authority (Ministry of Defense of Armenia) for examination and response. “They discussed and responded in writing that they were needed. I said, ‘If it’s necessary, then we will buy them,’” Pashinyan emphasized.
“Our army is undergoing a phase of reform. We are determined to implement these reforms with the objective of establishing a professional army in the Republic of Armenia, a professional army whose active operation is based exclusively on a defensive logic,” he added.
Pashinyan also reminded that the government program stipulates that Armenia has no intention of carrying out any military attacks. “The Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia must properly defend the territory and borders of Armenia from possible aggression. This is our goal,” the Prime Minister said.
