Supporters of Saakashvili Begin Indefinite Rally Outside Prison
Supporters of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili have initiated protests near the Rustavi prison where the political figure is currently held, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Representatives of opposition parties and their supporters are conducting the rally, demanding that Saakashvili be transferred to a civilian clinic for treatment, while the authorities are only prepared to move him to a prison hospital if necessary.
Additionally, the head of the Ministry of Justice, Rati Bregadze, stated the day before that Saakashvili's health condition, who has been on hunger strike since October 1, is stable, and he is receiving medication, with vital signs reported as normal. Bregadze also claimed that Saakashvili is actually consuming porridge and drinking natural juices.
In response, the former president issued a written statement admitting that he has indeed consumed several bottles of juice, but to avoid any speculation, he is now refusing to take any medication.
Participants in the rally state that the protests will be continuous, with supporters joining from the regions every day, and the rallies will not conclude until their demands are met. Several individuals, including journalists and one member of parliament, have also declared a hunger strike in solidarity with Saakashvili.
