Russian Peacekeepers Actively Facilitate Prisoner Exchanges, Says Russian Foreign Ministry
The Russian Foreign Ministry reports that Russian peacekeepers are acting as guarantors of the ceasefire regime established in Artsakh, and thanks to their efforts, around 53,000 refugees have already returned to their homes.
According to TASS, this is stated in a declaration by the Russian Foreign Ministry, which was published on the anniversary of the signing of the statement on the cessation of hostilities by the leaders of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020.
“Both Baku and Yerevan agree that the Russian peacekeeping contingent has steadfastly ensured the ceasefire regime over the past year, manifesting itself as a reliable guarantor of stability and security in the region,” the document states.
“The peaceful life in the region is gradually improving. This is clearly evidenced by the fact that around 53,000 refugees have already returned to their homes, especially as water supply and communication systems assist in securing the harvest,” the Russian Foreign Ministry added.
In addition, Russian peacekeepers are actively facilitating prisoner exchanges, preserving cultural, historical, and religious monuments, and escorting pilgrims to places of worship.
