Why the Appointment of a New Governor Did Not Take Place
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "Yesterday, by government decision, Hovhannes Harutyunyan was dismissed from the position of governor of Shirak province. The dismissal decision was among the questions that were not reported, which is why it was not announced during the meeting. In previous instances, when a new governor was appointed, the day of the meeting would be announced regarding both the dismissal of the current governor and the appointment of the new one.
It is noted that there have been speculations in the press that Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the secretary of the RA National Assembly's 'Civil Contract' faction, will be appointed as the governor of Shirak instead of Harutyunyan. She submitted a letter of resignation from her mandate on October 29, but she can withdraw the application within a week. The reason the appointment of the new governor has not yet occurred might be that they are waiting for the week to pass and for her mandate to be revoked before making the appointment.
When asked if she will be appointed as the governor, Baghdasaryan stated the day before: "I truly do not know, we still do not have a decision." More details in today’s issue of the newspaper.
