20-Year-Old Suspect in High-Profile Murder Case Arrested in Yerevan, Father and Brother Released

According to SHAMSHYAN.com, on November 4, the senior investigator of particularly important cases of the Shengavit investigative division of the Yerevan city investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, Yolchyan, presented a request to the Yerevan city court of general jurisdiction to remand 42-year-old Vrej A., 20-year-old Haik A., and 22-year-old Narek A. under detention for two months.

As reported by photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Judge Tatevik Muradyan, after holding a closed court session and returning from the deliberation room, partially granted the investigator's request and decided to remand Haik A. He is suspected of opening fire with a firearm on November 1 in Yerevan, causing gunshot injuries to Khachatur Sahakyan.

The other suspects, who are his father and brother, have been released.

According to G. Shamshyan, Haik A. has been transferred from the court to the “Armavir” penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

It was previously reported by Shamshyan.com that as a result of the operation “Three in Syunik, excluding the weapon,” residents of the Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan—42-year-old Vrej A., 20-year-old Haik A., and 22-year-old Narek A.—were neutralized in Syunik region. They were taken to the Shengavit police department on suspicion of arguing with 41-year-old Khachatur Sahakyan near the address 43 Karmir Blur at around 01:30 on the same day.

During the altercation, according to preliminary information, Haik A. fired shots from the firearm in his possession, resulting in Khachatur Sahakyan sustaining gunshot wounds and dying on the way to the hospital without regaining consciousness.

The suspects were presented by the Shengavit police department to the Shengavit investigative division of the Yerevan city investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, where they were detained based on the investigator’s decisions. According to photojournalist sources, V. H. and N. A. are relatives.
