Why Georgia Opposes the 3+3 Format: 'Zhoghovurd'

The «Zhoghovurd» newspaper reports: «We support the idea of creating a 3+3 advisory regional mechanism by the presidents of Azerbaijan and Turkey. Certainly, we believe that the time has come to turn these programs into a practical platform,» stated Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, adding that it aligns with everyone's interests. It should be noted that Georgia is currently the only country opposing this idea, but Moscow and Ankara are confident that Tbilisi will eventually agree to it.

In an interview with the «Zhoghovurd» newspaper, Georgian analyst Irakli Menagarishvili clearly reiterated Georgia's stance: «Georgia had the political will to work with Armenia and Azerbaijan independently of Russia; however, there is opposition in Georgia to this format. I believe that the regional format of 3+3 will never materialize.»
