Why Are You Reducing the Unemployment Benefit Program by 6.3 Billion? MP to Minister

It is unclear why you are cutting such important programs by about 13.5 billion drams, which have a direct social impact. During the discussion of the 2022 state budget at the meeting of the Permanent Committees of the National Assembly, MP Tadevos Avetisyan from the "Armenia" faction addressed this issue to Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan.

The MP elaborated that the program providing stipends to nearly 1,000 beneficiaries is being reduced by 272 million drams, while the unemployment benefit program is being cut by 6.3 billion drams, at a time when the monthly amount given to a beneficiary family is 31,350 drams. “I want to understand why it is being reduced by 6.3 billion drams. Why are you decreasing the social package by 670 million drams when there are numerous groups of beneficiaries you could enhance within the remaining budget?” said Tadevos Avetisyan.
