The Number of Vaccinated Soldiers Remains Confidential: 'Zhoghovurd'

The newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that the vaccination process for military personnel in the Armed Forces of Armenia is ongoing in accordance with the orders, instructions, and methodological guidelines issued by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Defense of Armenia. This information was shared with 'Zhoghovurd' by the Defense Ministry in response to our inquiry regarding the number of vaccinations conducted among military personnel in recent times.

However, the ministry did not clarify what percentage of conscripts, contract servicemen, and officer personnel have been vaccinated, effectively refraining from providing or publishing any figures. 'At present, a large number of servicemen have been vaccinated for the purpose of preventing and controlling the spread of the coronavirus infection (the specific number is not disclosed due to the confidentiality of the information),' the official correspondence from the Defense Ministry states.

According to information obtained by 'Zhoghovurd,' particularly in the second half of October, after the Ministry of Health's recommendation-instruction, the defense department undertook to carry out a significant number of vaccinations among senior military personnel in order to alter the vaccination statistics notably. In other words, in order to ensure that the number of vaccinations does not appear embarrassingly low, state departments have engaged in mandating this diffusion among civil servants, including military personnel.
