Mikheil Saakashvili's Health Condition Has Significantly Deteriorated
The health condition of former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, who has been on hunger strike for over a month in a Rustavi prison, has significantly deteriorated. The political figure has begun experiencing memory loss, as well as losing his logical coherence and is unable to write letters. This was reported today by Iya Barateli, an editor at the News Georgia news agency.
Barateli believes that it is absolutely disadvantageous for the Georgian authorities to keep Saakashvili in prison, as he poses a “serious destabilization factor” for them. The former leader's presence in prison acts as “a significant catalyst for the opposition” to continue their protests, he added.
