Beginner Farmers in Difficult Situation: No Animal Feed Available

The newspaper "Javakhk" writes that beginner farmers have found themselves in an extremely difficult situation. Not only has animal feed become more expensive, but it is also scarce. The issues of deficit and inflation that were recorded in this sector months ago have not yet been resolved, despite the fact that Armenia's Minister of Economy Vahe Karobyan had stated in an interview with "Javakhk" that the government intends to provide farmers with affordable compounded feeds.

As you can see, there has still been no response from the Ministry of Economy, while farmers are facing serious problems even with the import of animal feed. Some of them tried to import hay from Georgia, but it turned out that a fee of 900 drams would be charged for bringing in just one bale of hay, which has led to the cancellation of that process.

Currently, it is difficult to find hay in our republic. If available, it costs up to 2000 drams. Experts say that it will become even more expensive during the winter months. In addition, the price of compound feed has also increased. The cost of a 25-kilogram bag of rabbit feed has risen from 5500 drams to 5700 drams. Against the backdrop of rising animal feed prices, we will soon also hear about increases in the price of meat products.

Nevertheless, the newspaper "Javakhk" asked Minister Vahe Karobyan when farmers could obtain affordable compounded feed from the government. In response to our question, the minister noted, "We have put it into circulation; I hope that the means will be ready by the end of the month."
