After Karo Paylan's Speech, Cavusoglu Finds Himself in a Difficult Situation

The Turkish press has reacted strongly to the remarks by Armenian MP Karo Paylan during the budget discussions in the Turkish Parliament, directed at Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavusoglu.

According to Turkish T24, Karo Paylan, an MP from the Kurdish Peoples' Democratic Party, criticized the Foreign Minister for his discriminatory statements towards Turkish citizens during his speech. Paylan emphasized that Mevlüt Cavusoglu should refrain from using the phrase "dear compatriots" in his speeches, as equal rights are endowed to all citizens of Turkey, including Armenians, Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, and other ethnicities.

He urged Cavusoglu to instead use the term "fellow citizens" rather than the discriminatory term "fellow nationals." Following Paylan's speech, it has been noted in the Turkish media that Cavusoglu found himself in an uncomfortable position.
